Psychogeography
Dear urban adventurers,Here is Richard Blome's 1664 map of London. Why don't we go on a bike ride around the edges of the old city? Should be fun. Christ knows when though. How about this Sunday the 15th if the weather's good?
Inspired by the UCL Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis here is an overlay of 1664 and the city as it is now.

Here's what the City would have looked like if John Evelyn had had his way after the Great Fire. Modern. And we would have kept the Fleet River overground.

Trevor - can't do... but another ride to put on the map, as it were, is the Bow Back Waters. Geoffrey and I cycled around to investigate the wasteland -- it's bad, and I'm an East Londoner -- that will be wiped off face of London in prep for Olympics. It really is No Man's Land right now. Think Potsdamer Platz before Sony Centre moved in
sunday the 15th works for me.
Great. Let's meet at ours around 11am if that suits. We can begin by going round the back of St James and return via Tower Bridge. I've found this great site from the UCL Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis and there's a link to Google Earth that show the map overlaid onto the city as it is now. Of course if it's raining then I'm staying in.
11am sounds good - as does rain avoidal.
